Children in the Wilderness has been incredibly successful ever since its inception in Botswana eight years ago. Since then, camps and programmes have been run in steadily increasing numbers and, finally in 2008, in all countries in which Wilderness Safaris operates. A new ‘creation’ is in the process of being added to the Children in the Wilderness fold: Children in the Wilderness – Tuli, Botswana Children in the Wilderness Tuli – Botswana is a likeminded organisation which is committed to environmental education and inspiration of its neighbouring communities, in particular the youth in and around Notugre . Notugre is part of the Limpopo Shashe TFCA which encompasses the Northern Tuli Game Reserve (Notugre) and is an association of private landowners who had agreed to remove the fences that separate their properties and jointly manage wildlife resources. CITW Tuli will soon become part of the Children in the Wilderness team, where it will receive all the marketing and infrastructure assistance from Children in the Wilderness. However, similar to each country within the region, it will operate independently, running its own camps and programmes along the CITW principals. To begin with, CITW Tuli mentors will join Children in the Wilderness at its Training Workshop in May. We are thrilled that the CITW brand is growing beyond our immediate environs and look forward to a long and fruitful association with CITW Tuli. |
